Beth Orton Announces New Album, Sugaring Season
Album marks Orton's first release on Anti-
Beth Orton returns on Oct. 2 with her first album in six years, titled Sugaring Season. The follow up to 2006’s Comfort of Strangers will be the English singer-songwriter’s debut on Anti- Records.
In support of the new album, Orton’s U.S. tour kicks off on Sept. 20 in Nashville and wraps up at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles on Oct. 23. Accompanying this announcement was a new track, “Something More Beautiful,” which you can hear below.
Appropriately named for its mixture of folk and electronica, Orton’s signature “folktronica” sound on earlier albums became more folk-based and alternative on recent releases. Her new tracks will follow in that theme.
“It may not be a ‘dance’ beat,” Orton said. “But it’s definitely there and it’s earthed and primal and insistent.”
