The Olivia Tremor Control's Bill Doss: 1968-2012

Update: The Olivia Tremor Control’s management has confirmed Doss’ death.

Musician Bill Doss, most notably of The Olivia Tremor Control, has been confirmed dead. Rumors of his death first started on Twitter this morning and were later confirmed by The Olivia Tremor Control’s website. A cause of death was not available, and calls to the Athens, Ga., coroner’s office were not immediately returned.

Doss co-founded the Athens, Ga. recording company Elephant 6 along with Robert Schneider, Will Cullen Hart and Neutral Milk Hotel’s Jeff Mangum. In addition to The Olivia Tremor Control and Neutral Milk Hotel, the company gave way to bands such as Apples in Stereo, Of Montreal and Circulatory System.

After a lengthy hiatus that saw Doss fronting the band The Sunshine Fix, The Olivia Tremor Control reunited in 2005, both to record and perform live. They played together as recently as earlier this month at the Pitchfork Music Festival.

Keep checking back for more details on the story as they emerge.
