According to Exclaim, a press release confirms that Blackalicious will release a new track, “Blacka,” on July 31—their first material since 2005’s The Craft. No word on how far along the rap duo has come on the upcoming material or if it will even be part of a full LP. For now, the single is welcomed contribution for fans.
In addition to the new track, they will also be reissuing their 1994 EP Melodica via Black Mines on the same day. The digital reissue of Melodica will include a bonus cut of “Changes,” a song that was produced by the group’s Chief Excel, DJ Shadow and UNKLE’s James Lavelle. It was previously only on the Japanese version of the record. Listen to the jazz-infused bonus track below.
