Calvin and Hobbes Documentary Officially Kickstarted
Dear Mr. Watterson, Joel Schroeder’s Calvin & Hobbes documentary, has shot far above its initial goal of the $50,000 needed for funding. With another four days left to donate, the project has received over $76,000.
The film, which originally began back in 2007, set out to analyze why the well-loved comic Calvin & Hobbes had a serious impact on current culture. According to Cinemablend, the Kickstarter campaign was started in 2010 with a fundraising effort of almost $25,000. Schroeder had the chance to record several interviews, including chats with Watterson’s editor, cartoonist Berkeley Breathed and actor Seth Green.
The final film is expected to run for 90 minutes. Schroeder’s final Kickstarter campaign is to cover the cost of final production costs and legal fees. You can check out the Kickstarter video below, or visit the page.
