New Documentary Would Chronicle The Black Lips' Upcoming Middle East Tour

The Black Lips recently announced that they will be embarking on a tour of the Middle East this fall. The Atlanta-based garage rockers are no strangers to touring in unconventional locations—in recent years they’ve made their way around both India and Israel.

You might think a band as controversial as The Black Lips touring in such culturally conservative countries would spell disaster, and though they eventually finished both tours unscathed, you’d be at least partially right. In India they had to flee a venue after guitarists Cole Alexander and Ian St. Pe kissed on stage, and in Israel one of their crew members took a rubber bullet to the gut.

For all those curious about possible misadventures the band might get into when they fly overseas this September, producer Bill Cody is planning to tag along and chronicle the band as they play shows in Iraq, Dubai, Lebanon and several other locations around the Middle East.

While Cody is planning on joining the ‘Lips, he still needs your help to fund the project. Visit his IndieGoGo campaign to donate.

Check out their schedule below, as well as Cody’s promo video for the documentary.
