After playing roles as diverse as Morpheus in the Matrix and Pee-Wee Herman’s pal Cowboy Curtis, Laurence Fishburne will return to television in 2013 on NBC’s Hannibal, a show that will focus on the complex relationship of Will Graham and Dr. Hannibal Lecter. Yes, that one guy who eats people.
Fishburne will play the authoritative head of the FBI’s behavioral science unit. The same character was played by Scott Glenn in Jonathan Demme’s The Silence of the Lambs. The show is geared to be very Dexterian with writer Bryan Fuller (Pushing Daises) telling Entertainment Weekly: “As Hannibal has said [to Graham] in a couple of the movies, ‘You’re a lot more like me than you realize.’ We’ll get to the bottom of exactly what that means over the course of the first two seasons.”
Hannibal is planned for 13 episodes and does not have a set premiere date.
