Marvel Announces Movie News at Comic-Con

At Comic-Con over the weekend, Marvel legitimized rumors about upcoming film projects at Marvel Studios. The most surprising bits of information were some of the film’s official titles. The next Captain America film, which won’t release until April 4, 2014, will be titled Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The creator of the the Winter Soldier, comic writer Ed Brubaker, provided this blunt-yet-surprised response via Twitter when he heard the news: “HOLY SHIT.”

Other surprising details include a cryptic title with Thor: The Dark World and an announced release date of Aug. 1, 2014 for Guardians of the Galaxy. Sadly, these dates seem far in the distant future, but nonetheless show that comics in cinema are continuing to flourish. Whether that’s good or bad, we’ll find out in a couple years.
