Disney’s Saving Mr. Banks is adding Paul Giamatti, Jason Schwartzman and Ruth Wilson to the already impressive cast. The John Lee Hancock-directed film will focus on P.L. Travers, who wrote the Mary Poppins books starting in 1934. It will shift between her life as a child and the time she was negotiating with Walt Disney for the rights to make the film.
Other cast members include Tom Hanks (who plays Walt Disney), Colin Farrell (Travers’ father) and Emma Thompson (Travers). Giamatti will play Travers’ chauffeur, Wilson will play Travers’ mother in the flashbacks and Schwartzman will play the Disney songwriter Richard Morton. No dates have been released yet for the start of filming or the expected release.
