Hi Custodian—a short film directed by the Dirty Projectors frontman David Longstreth, which also features the members and music of the band—is set to be released this summer. Earlier today, a two-minute trailer was released, which you can watch below.
The film features Longstreth and the rest of Dirty Projectors playing a number of different characters, who act and sing their way through several different settings. Hi Custodian was filmed in Southern California in April, and serves as a kind of long form, quasi-music video for their forthcoming album, Swing Lo Magellan. The film features music from the album, as well as material from the recording sessions that will not be featured on the LP.
Swing Lo Magellan, which will be released July 10 through Dominio Records, was also made available to stream earlier today. Read an interview with the band and listen to the album via the New York Times here.
