James Murphy appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night to promote the forthcoming LCD Soundsystem documentary, Shut Up and Play the Hits, which chronicles the time surrounding the band’s farewell show at Madison Square Garden.
Though Murphy didn’t perform as a musical guest (although he stepped in with The Roots), he was an entertaining interview. He and Fallon discussed Murphy’s ambitions before he formed LCD Soundsystem, as well as how he almost started writing for Seinfeld when he was 22 years old.
Shut Up and Play the Hits will be in theaters for one night only on July 18. For more info, visit the film’s website here.
