XCOM: Enemy Unknown Release Date Announced

XCOM: Enemy Unknown, the latest strategy/roleplaying game from Firaxis Games and 2K Games, finally has a release date. The title will come to North America on Oct. 9 of this year, followed by an Oct. 12 date for Europe and Australia.

According to Eurogamer, preordering the title will grant buyers to an Elite Soldier pack, which provides an extra soldier model based off of the original XCOM. Players who pick up the Elite pack will also get Soldier Deco packs and several new colors to decorate armor with. Players interested in picking up the Special Edition, available only for the PC, will receive an art book, fold-out poster and insignia patch, in addition to a number of digital items.

XCOM is set on a modern-day Earth, where a global alien invasion has begun. Players take control of a commander in charge of one of the military’s top organizations in an effort to combat the attack. XCOM: Enemy Unknown will be available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
