Members of Arcade Fire and The Strokes to Play in Charity Basketball Game
Last year, Arcade Fire’s Win Butler took part in POP Montreal’s first annual Charity Basketball Game put on to benefit DJ Sports Club, a non-profit Montreal youth charity that offers sports and education programs. It has recently been announced that Butler, along with The Strokes’ Nikolai Fraiture, will also be competing in this year’s event.
Officially named the “POP Vs. Jock” basketball game, the event will take place on Sept. 22 at McGill University. Also joining Butler and Fraiture is Martin Starr of TV’s Freaks and Geeks and Party Down.
The event is an official event conjunction with POP Montreal, a rock festival that runs Sept. 19-23. Featured artists in this year’s festival include David Byrne and St. Vincent, Lil B, Gotye, Grizzly Bear, Grimes, Big K.R.I.T., Dirty Three, Hot Snakes, Gang Gang Dance, Tim Hecker, Stars, Dam-Funk, Diamond Rings, Antibalas, Laetitia Sadier, Deerhoof, Lunice, Austra, Elite Gymnastics, Cadence Weapon, Wild Nothing and many more.
