Timed to coincide with the iconic sci-fi show’s 50th anniversary, Mark Gatiss (formerly an actor on Dr. Who) is developing a 90-minute film for BBC Two to celebrate the anniversary. The film, titled An Adventure in Space and Time, will be a dramatization of how Dr. Who came to be.
Gatiss said about the project: “This is the story of how an unlikely set of brilliant people created a true television original. And how an actor—William Hartnell—stereotyped in hard-man roles became a hero to millions of children. I’ve wanted to tell this story for more years that I can remember! To Make it happen for Doctor Who’s 50th birthday is quite simply a dream come true.”
The show will turn 50 on Nov. 23 next year, so it’ll be sometime before we’ll see its release.
