Bill Doss Memorial to be Held Saturday in Athens, Ga.

The Olivia Tremor Control’s Bill Doss passed away earlier this week at the age of 43. Doss had long been a fixture of the Athens, Ga. music scene, and a public memorial service has been scheduled to take place on Saturday at Athens’ 40 Watt Club from 2-4 p.m.

The family has asked that attendees make a donation to Nuci’s Space in lieu of bringing flowers. Nuci’s Space is a support and resource center from musicians dedicated “to prevent[ing] suicide by providing obstacle free treatment for musicians suffering from depression and other such disorders, as well as to assist in the emotional, physical and professional well-being of musicians.” To make a donation, click here.

Doss’ cause of death has not yet been indentified. Athens-Clarke County coroner Sonny Wilson told the Athens Banner-Herald that “it’s going to be one of those cases that could take three to four months with all the tests they have to run.”
