Eddie Murphy to Help Bring Beverly Hills Cop to TV

Eddie Murphy is teaming up with The Shield creator Shawn Ryan and Sony Pictures Television to turn the Beverly Hills Cop franchise into a new buddy-cop television show, according to Vulture.

Murphy had hinted in the past to wanting to make a Beverly Hills Cop 4, but in a recent interview with Rolling Stone, said that the script for a film version was not right.

Now Murphy and his partners have decided to take the franchise to the small screen having the show focus on Murphy’s character Alex Foley’s son.

The team has already started shopping the pilot to the different networks. The show will be an hour-long crime procedural show with some comedic elements. Although Murphy is not the main character, he will appear in the show’s pilot and sporadically throughout the first season.
