Though we haven’t heard from the New Zealand comedy-folk duo since 2009, Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement have kept busy with various film and TV roles.
Now they’re back together for Red Nose Day: Comedy to Cure Kids, a charity gig to help raise funds for sick children with life-threatening diseases.
In the 14-minute video for the new song, “Feel Inside (And Stuff Like That),” the band meets with children to “get back in touch with what the kids are about,” as their manager Murray (Rhys Darby) puts it, and to brainstorm lyrics. The “We Are the World”-like outcome, complete with local New Zealand celebrities, includes the duo’s patented witty lyricism with an underlying message of good cause.
All proceeds of the single go to Red Nose Day, and can be purchased on iTunes and Amplifier now.
