While some artists seemingly release new material every 15 minutes, others take their time, and with careful precision craft an album that showcases their growth and maturing style between works.
Canadian pop rockers Tegan and Sara haven’t released new material since 2009’s acclaimed Sainthood, but that doesn’t mean they haven’t been busy. Last year saw the release of Get Along, a live album/dvd, and earlier this year they worked with DJ Morgan Page on the song “Body Work,” and gave fans an inside look into the process of recording a new album with the series Carpool Confessionals.
Now that the album is complete, Tegan and Sara are getting back into the swing of touring with shows throughout the west coast, even joining The Black Keys for a number of dates. Recently the twins performed a new song at their show in Burbank, Calif. as part of Warner Bros’ Summer Series. The earworm, called “Closer,” finds them singing “It’s not just all physical / I’m the type who will get oh so critical / So let’s make things physical / I won’t treat you like you’re oh so typical.”
The band promises there will be news on a release date for the album soon, but until then, fans can tide themselves over by watching a fan-shot video of the new song below, and checking out their upcoming tour dates here.
