M.I.A. shared details on her fourth studio album Matangi through a series of conversations with fans on Twitter today.
She described her new album’s genre as “paul simon on acid” and said it will be produced without the help of a “fame whore coloniser” producer—a not-so-veiled shot at Diplo, we think. M.I.A. also stated that the album was “still in the making,” with no set tracklist yet, and that it could be anywhere from 10 to 15 songs, with “no collabs.”
M.I.A. said Matangi—as well an upcoming autobiography and art exhibition—could be expected in December.
Asked by a fan whether or not the album would be fierce, she wrote, “no one in the industry collected blows in the last 3 years as much as me, this is a fuck you to them and a thank you to you,”
