M. Ward Releases Free Mobile App

M. Ward has now lent his creativity to the world of technology. He just recently released his own free mobile app, A Wasteland Companion, which sorts and streams non-commercial radio programs to listeners.

M. Ward created the app out of necessity and his love for local radio.

“When I’m on tour, I want to listen to local radio with music being played by real people and actual voices in that community. Radio has the power to be a cultural hub,” he said in his recent interview with Rolling Stone.

A Wasteland Companion, which has the same name as M. Ward’s most recent album, catalogs over a thousand different public radio stations from every state. The stations have a wide variety of genres and political ideologies that listeners can tune in to.

In addition to the public radio streaming, the app includes news and tour dates for M. Ward. A Wasteland Companion was developed by Mobile Roadie, and is now available in the iTunes store.
