New Christopher Guest TV Series Gets HBO, BBC Order

HBO has given an order to Christopher Guest’s Family Tree, which will send the single-camera comedy straight to series, Deadline reports. The series was written by Guest and Jim Piddock and is expected to be directed by Guest.

The website states the show would be in the mocumentary style of Guest’s films and would follow 30-year-old Tom Chadwick (played by Bridesmaids star Chris O’Dowd), who investigates his family’s history after discovering a box of his great aunt’s belongings. Guest would be expected to appear on-screen. The BBC order for the show has not yet been finalized, but Deadline said it is expected to be around eight episodes.
