Paste Announces 2012 Best of What's Next Artists

Today, Paste announced the 2012 Best of What’s Next artists in music, film and books. The artists, who were hand-picked by Paste staff and contributors, are featured in the latest issue of the mPlayer digital magazine, which you can see right here.

The picks kick off with Max Blau’s cover feature on Father John Misty, who you might know best as former Fleet Foxes member Josh Tillman. The feature, which dives deep into Tillman’s creation of the Father John Misty moniker, sees the songwriter telling his story while, as he says it, “driving around in my van, in my underwear, blind as a bat looking for cellphone reception.”

Coverage also includes songwriter Cheyenne Marie Mize, Fort Atlantic, Morning Teleportation and DIIV. Notable artists in movies and TV include Fabienne Therese, Jason Miller and Jonathan Krisel. Blake Butler and Josh Weil make the cut in the book category. You can see a full list of Best of What’s Next Artists below, and check out the issue here.
