Raiders of the Lost Ark Coming to IMAX, Blu-ray

Amazing news for Indiana Jones fans: Beginning on Sept. 7, Raiders of the Lost Ark will be screened in select IMAX theaters around the country for one week and one week only.

The 1981 classic has been completely restored for IMAX, and information regarding tickets and participating theaters is available today at IMAX.com. Both director Steven Spielberg and sound designer Ben Burtt oversaw the restoration.

“When I saw the stunning quality of the picture and heard the enhanced sound in an IMAX theatre, I was quite literally blown away and hope that audiences will enjoy the experience as much as I did,” Spielberg said.

Following the film’s one week IMAX run, the entire Indiana Jones collection will be released on Blu-ray on Sept. 18. In addition to high definition versions all four Indiana Jones films, the Blu-ray release will include seven hours of bonus material, including a two-part documentary titled “On Set with Raiders of the Lost Ark—From Jungle to Desert and From Adventure to Legend.”
