Sacha Baron Cohen Writing 007 Parody

As England’s most beloved spy celebrates his 50th silver screen anniversary this year, Sacha Baron Cohen, best known for Borat and dumping ashes on Ryan Seacrest, is set to provide his own homage to his fellow countryman, the debonair 007. According to Empire, Paramount has commissioned a screenplay about a British superspy “forced to go on the run with his long-lost brother, a moronic soccer hooligan.” The script will be drawn up by Cohen and Phil Johnston (Cedar Rapids, Wreck-it Ralph).

James Bond is a favorite target for comedic adaptations and has been the victim of serious lampooning by shows and films such as In Like Flint, Get Smart and Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery. The film has no rough estimate on a release date, and it’s unclear whether Cohen himself will star in the still untitled spy flick.
