Warner Brothers’ 2013 film Swear to God, which will star Will Ferrell as a hedge fund manager who is convinced that he’s seen God, was originally set to be directed by longtime Ferrell collaborator Adam McKay (Anchorman, The Other Guys, Stepbrothers). Now, Deadline is reporting that Justin Theroux has been tapped to re-write and direct the film. Theroux is perhaps best known for his roles in films such as Mulholland Dr., American Psycho and Wanderlust. He also wrote the screenplays for Tropic Thunder and Iron Man 2.
And if Will Ferrell playing a self-centered hedge fund manager isn’t enough, Deadline has also reported that Steve Carell will join his Anchorman co-star in Swear to God. Production is expected to get underway in July of 2013.
