The National to Open for Barack Obama in Des Moines

According to their Twitter account, The National will be opening for Barack Obama during a Sept. 1 campaign stop in Des Moines, Iowa.

This comes as no surprise, as the veteran New York rockers have long been vocal supporters of the president. They designed a t-shirt for his 2008 campaign and one of their songs, “Fake Empire,” was used in an Obama commercial. They also opened for him at a 2010 campaign stop in Madison, Wisconsin with Ben Harper.
