14 The Who Tickets from 1979 Validated for Upcoming Show
Thirty-three years ago, the Who was supposed to play a gig in Rhode Island, but then-Mayor Buddy Cianci cancelled the show after 11 people were killed in Ohio before a Who concert. The Associated Press reported that 14 of the 1979 concert ticket holders have now been able to cash in their presumed useless tickets for the show at the same venue set to take place in February—the last stop for the Quadrophenia tour.
Tickets originally dated for admittance to the 1979 show will be donated to the Special Olympics of Rhode Island. The organization plans to have an eBay auction for the tickets in August. There’s no telling what else those 14 people have saved for the past 33 years, but it looks like they’re reaping the benefits of being true fans of the Who.
