Watch Iron & Wine Cover Johnny Cash's "Long Black Veil"

Legacy released We Walk the Line: A Celebration of the Music of Johnny Cash yesterday, a CD/DVD package featuring a tribute concert to the late country singer.

In tandem with the release, Iron & Wine’s cover of “Long Black Veil” has aired online, with Sam Beam putting his soft, mournful spin on the traditional tune. The song was originally recorded by Lefty Frizzell, but was best known as being performed by Cash. Other performers on We Walk the Line include Willie Nelson, Sheryl Crow and Lucinda Williams. The show took place last April on what would have been Cash’s 80th birthday.

The full broadcast will air on PBS Aug. 10 as part of PBS Pledge. Take a look at Beam’s rendition of the country classic below.
