Anthony Mackie Joins Captain America Sequel

The dust is still settling on The Avengers’ impressive box office haul, but the studios are already prepping for each hero’s individual sequel. Rumors were rampant at this summer’s Comic-Con that Anthony Mackie was in talks to play Sam “The Falcon” Wilson in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and now we have confirmation straight from the Captain’s mouth.

MTV’s Josh Horowitz was at the Toronto International Film Festival discussing the sequel with star Chris Evans who dropped the casting news about Mackie. “He’s so great,” Evans said. “I’ve known Mackie for a few years now. I’m really happy we got him. We got lucky.”

A few of the sequel’s plot details were revealed earlier this summer, but fans will have to wait until April 4, 2014 to see it play out on screen. Until then, check out the video below where Evans confirms Mackie’s addition to the Captain America team.
