Before Midnight Existence Confirmed, Production Already Wrapped
First Official Image from Film Also Released
Following numerous misleading rumors, the secret is finally out: Richard Linklater has not only been shooting a new film titled Before Midnight (the second sequel to his 1995 hit Before Sunrise), but the film has in fact completed principal photography.
Shortly after reports from local Greek newspapers reported Linklater, along with stars Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy, were in town shooting a movie, all three were quick to lighten speculation by stating that the project was merely in the developmental stages. However, it has now been confirmed that the film has wrapped production.
Before Midnight, the project’s confirmed official title, has Delpy and Hawke reprising their roles as star-crossed lovers Celine and Jesse nine years after the conclusion of the series’ first sequel, 2004’s Before Sunset.
Though plot details of the film remain under wraps, the trio released a statement saying: “It’s great to be back together again, this time in beautiful Greece to revisit the lives of Celine and Jesse nine years after Jesse was about to miss his flight.” Alluding to the end of Before Sunrise, we are left to speculate what the film will entail and what exactly has happened to Celine and Jesse since we last saw them hanging in the space between their separate lives and a potential life together.
