Benedict Cumberbatch might not have the coveted title of Emmy winner next to his name, however rumor has it he will soon have something just as worthy of envy: the role of Bond villain.
Skyfall won’t be released for another two months, but already there’s news about the Bond sequel that is set to follow in 2014.
“Work on the next film will begin next year and the plan is for Benedict to be on board,” Day & Night reports. “Playing a Bond villain is one of the plum roles in film history and he’d jump at the chance.”
Until the rumor is confirmed, Cumberbatch fans can catch the actor in Peter Jackson’s upcoming The Hobbit as well season three of the U.K.’s Sherlock, which is expected to begin production in 2013.
