It was a good week to be in The Civil Wars. The duo has just been certified with a gold record, was nominated for two Country Music Awards and won a Americana Music Association award.
Last February, The Civil Wars released their debut album, Barton Hollow. Today, the band has been recognized by the Recording Industry of America Association with a gold album after selling 500,000 copies.
The good news of their gold album came just days after the band learned that they had been nominated for two CMAs. Earlier this year, they had recorded the track “Safe & Sound” with Taylor Swift for the monumentally popular Hunger Games movie. Now, the track has been nominated for the “Musical Event of the Year” award. In addition to their nomination with Swift, they have also been nominated for the prestigious “Vocal Duo of the Year.”
If they win the CMA’s they can place their awards next to their Grammy and the Americana Music Association award for “Duo/Group of the Year,” which they won at last night.
To celebrate the their gold record, a special “Gold Album Party,” will be held at Grimey’s New and & Preloved Music in Nashville on Sept. 26, which is open to the public. The party will feature a meet and greet with The Civil Wars’, a live DJ set and a chance to win an official gold album plaque.
