James Murphy Asks For Fan Photos For Upcoming Short Film

James Murphy proved just how insanely creative he was when he founded LCD Soundsystem and now he will prove it again with his directorial debut. According to Spin, Murphy is teaming up with Ron Howard to direct a short film and he needs your help to make it.

The film will be part of Howard’s project with Canon, Project Imaginat10n. Howard has chosen five “celebrity directors” to make five short films.

Project Imaginat10n is a very fan-based project. The idea is that fans submit photos on a broad range of themes that have been chosen by Howard and Canon. Once the photos have been submitted the public then votes on their top photos until 91 winners have been picked. From those 91 photos, the five celebrity directors pick 10 that inspire them and they transform the still photographs into a short film.

In a promotional video, which features Murphy sitting at a cluttered desk in front of the East River in New York, Murphy has asked his fans to submit pictures for his film. Murphy expresses his love of candid photographs and explains how you can become his “mood board” for his film.

Project Imaginat10n themes include setting, time, character, mood, backstory, relationship, goal, obstacle and the unknown. There is a limit of five photos per theme. For official rules and guidelines, be sure to check out Project Imaginat10n’s website, also be sure to check out Murphy’s promo video below.
