Fox Developing New Political Drama Based On Hamlet

Washington Post is reporting that Fox is developing a new series that will be a modern take on Hamlet.

The new series is a political drama that will take place in Washington, D.C. It begins with the death of a hopeful presidential candidate in a car accident. The show follows as the man’s son discovers that the car accident, that killed his father, was actually not an accident. To avenge his fathers death the son (who is described as a JFK type) begins his own presidential campaign.

The pilot script was written by Paul Redford. Redford is no stranger to political dramas, he spent five seasons writing for The West Wing. Redford most recently wrote for the HBO series The Newsroom this past season.
