Huge Collection of Andy Warhol's Art to be Auctioned

It was recently announced that the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual arts will team up with Christie’s auction house to have a massive estate sale of pop icon Andy Warhol’s work.

The auction, which is expected to raise $100 million dollars for the Foundation, will feature 20,000 pieces by Warhol that range from Polaroids, to prints, to paintings. Some of the art will be sold starting Nov. 12, with online auctions commencing in February.

According to Christie’s website, the foundation “seeks to significantly increase its endowment in order to ensure and expand its long-term support of the visual arts.”

The Andy Warhol Foundation is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. In addition to the sale, the Foundation will donate works from their collection to museums.
