James Cameron Addresses Controversial Titanic Ending
After fifteen years of argument and debate, the silence has finally broken. Titanic director James Cameron has chosen to address one of the film’s most talked-about scenes in which Jack sacrifices his life by staying in the water while Rose waits for help on top of a floating door.
For years fans have deemed this selfless sacrifice completely unnecessary, claiming there is clearly more than enough room on the floating object for the two lovers to fit. There is even a widespread meme dedicated to proving this fact.
But now, after years of avoiding the issue, Cameron has spoken out against this belief in a recent interview with IGN. In response to fan’s claims of plenty of room for Jack on the door, Cameron calmly explains it is not a matter of room but a matter of science. Furthermore, Cameron states Myth Busters intends on tackling this debate more in depth.
Check out Cameron discussing the issue below at the 4:40 mark.
