James Franco's EP to Feature Smokey Robinson

Actor James Franco and musician Tim O’Keefe have announced their plans to release their first musical collaboration under the name Daddy. Their debut EP, MotorCity, will be released Sept. 25.

The EP features the talents of the legendary Motown artist Smokey Robinson on guest vocals. Rolling Stone has the premiere of the duo’s first video for “Love in the Old Days,” which was directed by Franco.

MotorCity was written and recorded while Franco was in Detroit filming Oz: The Great and Powerful. Franco also designed the cover art for the EP, which is a Polaroid photo of four fellow Spring Breakers co-stars—Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson and Rachel Korine.

Franco and O’Keefe state that the motivation behind Daddy is to push beyond the sonic space of music into the surrounding ecology.
