Michael Clarke Duncan: 1957 - 2012

The Associated Press reported that Michael Clarke Duncan, who was best known for his role as John Coffey in The Green Mile, has died. Duncan also appeared in films such as Armageddon and The Whole Nine Yards. He was 54 years old.

Confirmation of Duncan’s death came from his fiancee, Omarosa Manigault. The actor was hospitalized from a heart attack on July 13, but he was later moved out of the intensive care unit on Aug. 6. According to TMZ, Duncan never fully recovered from the heart attack. The website also stated that Duncan’s death was sudden, stating that Manigault left for a short period of time and when she returned, he had died.

“Manigault is grateful for all of your prayers and asks for privacy at this time,” Duncan’s representative told TMZ. “Celebrations of his life, both private and public, will be announced at a later date.”
