Watch the New Hobbit Trailer

As if the hype for Peter Jackson’s forthcoming adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit couldn’t grow any larger, Warner Bros. has released a brand new trailer for the film in addition to several new images. These developments come in celebration of Sept. 22, which is known as Hobbit Day and represents the birthdate of both characters Bilbo and Frodo Baggins. Furthermore, Sept. 21 marks the 75th anniversary of the original publication of The Hobbit.

The trailer prominently features Martin Freeman portraying Bilbo, as well as Ian McKellen reviving his role as Gandalf from the Lord of the Rings series.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will be the first of three films to be released over the next two years that bring Tolkien’s iconic novel to the big screen. The first film hits theaters Dec. 14.
