Photo of New Robocop Suit Leaks

Coming Soon has posted an exclusive first look photo of the newly designed suit in the upcoming Robocop reboot.

In conjunction with star Joel Kinnaman’s (The Killing) statement in an interview with Movieline, it appears that the entire film is updating itself from Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 film, including costume designs.

Already having to battle a negative review of the film’s script from HitFix critic Drew McWeeny, reaction to the image of the new suit has been mixed at best, with mostly negative responses from critics and fans alike. Most are quick to point out undeniable similarities to recent superhero designs such as those in Batman and Iron Man, and how the new costume abandons the robotic look of the original costume.

We still have a ways to go until the film hits theaters in Aug. of 2013, but it is clear the film crew has their work cut out for them if they hope to impress fans of Verhoeven’s 80s classic.
