Mayan Calendar Among Themes in This Year's Simpsons "Treehouse of Horror"

According to the Mayan calendar, the world is going to end this year. This little bit of news is exactly the type of story line that writers for The Simpsons look for when writing their annual “Treehouse of Terror” episodes. In fact, the Mayan calendar will be a prominent story line in this year’s “Treehouse of Terror,” according to TV Guide.

This year will mark the 23rd “Treehouse of Horror,” and it will feature storylines about the Mayans’ end-of-the-world prophecy, the Higgs boson “God particle” and the very popular Paranormal Activity trilogy. Bart will also channel Marty McFly when he travels back in time to stop his parents’ relationship in a Back To The Future parody.

“Treehouse of Horror XXIII” is set to air Oct. 7 on Fox.
