Movies about President Lincoln seem to be the newest craze in Hollywood these days. Now, Oscar winner Tom Hanks, will be involved in yet another movie revolving around the 17th President. Deadline reported that Hanks will be the host, historical commentator and narrator of the TV movie Killing Lincoln.
Killing Lincoln is based off of Bill O’Reilly’s best-selling book with co-author Martin Dugard. The National Geographic channel will transform the best seller into a two-hour thriller that has Bill Campbell as the President. The TV movie will focus on the conspiracy behind Lincoln’s assassination.
Hanks is known for having a strong passion and interest in history. He has worked on many historical projects including, HBO miniseries Band Of Brothers and The Pacific and the PBS docu-series Freedom: A History Of Us.
Hanks is joined by other history buffs for the project including director Adrian Moat who directed 1993’s civil war movie Gettysburg and writer/executive producer, Erik Jendresen, who worked on Band of Brothers.
Killing Lincoln is set to air on National Geographic Channel next year.
