This past weekend, Ohio-based rockers The National performed for the first time in over eight months, opening a campaign rally for President Barack Obama in Des Moines, Iowa. This marks the second time that the band has opened for Obama, the first being at a rally in 2008. In addition, the band designed a t-shirt and lent their song “Fake Empire” to a campaign advertisement for the Obama administration.
According to Rolling Stone, nearly 10,000 people turned up to Urbandale’s Living History Farms. The National performed a five-song set, opening with “Bloodbuzz Ohio” and closing with “Mr. November.”
