Wayne Coyne, Ke$ha Take the Stage with Ben Folds Five in Nashville

Sunday night marked a special date for Ben Folds Five—it’s the first time in 13 years they’ve played an indoor concert. The band played Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium and were joined on stage by special guests Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips and Nashville native and auto-tune queen Ke$ha. Ben Folds Five backed the duo for their performance of Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn’s “You’re the Reason Our Kids are Ugly.”

Coyne and Ke$ha took the stage midway through the performance, and the pair didn’t disappoint at the Ryman. Coyne was dressed in a tux and Ke$ha, playing to role of redneck bride, carried a bouquet.

They sang a spirited rendition of the country classic, and Ke$ha’s vocal delivery was notably on-point. Now if we could only get her to step away from that auto-tune…

Coyne and Folds are both expected to appear on Ke$ha’s upcoming album, with Coyne making vocal contributions and Folds providing string arrangements. Ben Folds Five is currently on tour in support of their new album that came out yesterday, The Sound of the Life of the Mind.
