HBO’s Prohibition-era drama Boardwalk Empire has been renewed for a fourth season.
According to a press release from the company, Michael Lombardo, president of HBO Programming, said, “Terry Winter, Martin Scorsese and the rest of their outstanding team continue to produce a stunning show that never fails to surprise and entertain. We are excited to bring this unique series back for a fourth season.”
The show took home four Emmys this year in addition to the eight it won at last year’s ceremony. Despite the praise, there has been a decline in viewers from 8.6 million viewers last season to 7.2 million for the Sept. 16 season three premiere.
