Daniel Day-Lewis to Receive Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award from BAFTA

Deadline reported that the British Academy of Film and Television Arts will present their most prestigious award, the Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award, to actor Daniel Day-Lewis.

“We are thrilled to bestow Daniel with this prestigious award,” Britannia Chairman Nigel Lythgoe said. “His remarkable body of work ensures that this honor is more than well-deserved, and we are excited to include him among the other esteemed honorees of the evening.”

The Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for Excellence in Film will be awarded to Lewis at the 2012 BAFTA Los Angeles Britannia Awards on Nov. 7. Past recipients include Warren Beatty, Sir Michael Caine, Robert DeNiro, Tom Hanks, Martin Scorsese and Sean Penn.

Day-Lewis will be starring in one of this year’s most highly anticipated films, Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln, which hits theaters Nov. 16.
