Jimmy Kimmel’s dream is finally coming true. His idol, David Letterman, has agreed to make an appearance Jimmy Kimmel Live!, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Letterman—along with Chris Rock, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert and Tracy Morgan—will join Kimmel for a special week of taping in his hometown of Brooklyn, N.Y. For the last week of October, Kimmel will film his late night show at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, this week will coincide with the Brooklyn Nets’ inaugural game at the new Barclays Center. The week will also feature many tributes to the city and Kimmel’s childhood.
While growing up, Kimmel had a strong admiration for Letterman. He often wore a Late Night with David Letterman jacket and even had Late Night birthday cakes made.
“I mean, I’d draw Dave’s face on every book cover. I was like a teenage girl in love with him,” Kimmel joked in a 2011 interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
This is not the first time that Kimmel has reached out for an appearance from Letterman. The first time resulted in a letter declining the offer, which Kimmel now has framed in his office. You can tune into ABC for Jimmy Kimmel Live! during the week of Oct. 29 – Nov. 2 to catch the special episodes of the show.
Musical performances for the week include Alicia Keys, Sharon Jones and The Dap-Kings, Vampire Weekend and The Avett Brothers with the Brooklyn Philharmonic.
