John Cusack Appears with Boombox at Peter Gabriel Concert
One of the most iconic ‘80s movie moments by one of the most iconic ’80s movie stars is in 1989’s Say Anything. John Cusack’s Lloyd Dobler, in a last-ditch attempt at wooing the girl of his dreams, hoists a boombox over his head blasting Peter Gabriel’s “In Your Eyes.” Even people who haven’t seen the movie likely know the scene.
In a surprise appearance over the weekend, Cusack made a cameo at the Hollywood Bowl for Peter Gabriel’s concert commemorating the 25th anniversary of his breakout album, So. During the portion of the concert where Gabriel revisited the seminal classic, Cusack handed the boombox to Gabriel who launched into song as he held it over his own head. Say Anything director Cameron Crowe was also in attendance and received a shout-out later in the show.
Gabriel is currently in the midst of his “Back to Front” tour, which showcases the singer performing newer hits as well as So in its entirety. It will run through Oct. 14.
