Lee Daniels in Talks to Direct Janis Joplin Biopic Starring Amy Adams

Director Lee Daniels—who was nominated for an Academy Award for his 2009 film Precious—is in negotiations to direct the Amy Adams-fronted Janis Joplin biopic, Get It While You Can, THR reports.

The project has long been in development, at one point having Catherine Hardwicke attached to direct and Renee Zellweger to star. Production is expected to begin in early 2013.

Daniels’ The Paperboy (starring Zac Efron, Matthew McConaughey, Nicole Kidman and John Cusack) is in limited release now.
