Molly Shannon is trading in comedy for drama. TV Line reported that the funny lady will guest star on the upcoming NBC drama Hannibal.
Not many details have been released about Shannon’s role on the drama, other than her guest appearance will be for one episode with the potential to recur.
Hannibal is from the creative mind of Bryan Fuller, who was the genius behind such shows like Pushing Daises and Dead Like Me. For inspiration, Fuller has taken five pages of backstory from Thomas Harris’ book Red Dragon. Hannibal, which has received a 13-episode order, will show the famous cannibal killer Dr. Lecter solving crimes with an FBI profiler. Hannibal is expected to have a mid-season premiere.
This wouldn’t be the first time Shannon’s worked on a TV drama. Back in the early ‘90s, a rising Shannon had a small spot on David Lynch’s Twin Peaks.
