Mumford & Sons' <i>Babel</i> Marks Biggest Album Debut of 2012

Following the release of their highly anticipated Babel, fans of Mumford & Sons made their sophomore effort the year’s biggest album debut in the U.S. In its first week,Babel sold 600,000 copies. The indie rock band beat a record set by Justin Bieber earlier this year, who’s album Believe sold 374,000 when it was released in June.

Of the 600,000 copies sold, 420,000 were digital downloads. The album is second in first week digital downloads to Lady Gaga’s 2011 album, Born This Way. Babel’s single “I Will Wait” is currently number two on Billboard’s Rock Songs chart.
